Free Initial Discussion

I am happy to answer any questions you may have about dyslexia and the assessment process either in person or on the telephone. This discussion will not necessarily lead to an assessment as I aim to work as ethically as I can and may therefore recommend other sources of support depending on the needs. Equally, if the outcome of a discussion is the recommendation of a diagnostic assessment, you are free to decide if you wish to pursue this with me or not. Please contact me for more information.

Full Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessments for children aged 8-16 and post 16 students

After an initial meeting to discuss the reasons for seeking an assessment, you will be required to provide some background information. Once I have all the information and data I need, I will carry out a series of tests, usually lasting between 2.5 to 3 hours. This comprehensive assessment covers: underlying ability tests (verbal and non-verbal ability), Cognitive Skills Tests (memory and processing skills) and Attainment Tests (reading, writing, spelling and maths, if applicable).

My reports are written in accordance with the SASC Guidelines and can be used to apply for the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA). For pupils in Year 9 to 11 as well as for post-16 students, I am also happy to provide their school/place of study with the relevant JCQ paperwork at a small extra cost (please ask me about this at the initial discussion) so that appropriate Exam Access Arrangements can be put in place for GCSE and A level examinations. Please bear in mind that schools must be involved in this process as it is their decision as to what access arrangements are put in place and they need to provide evidence that any access arrangements are the normal way of working for the student. I am also happy to liaise with class teachers and SEND departments in order to ensure the effective implementation of the recommendations highlighted in the report.

Exam Access Arrangement Testing

Exam Access Arrangements for GCSE and A Level can ensure that students with learning difficulties are able to access examinations in a fair way. I offer testing in schools in order to provide evidence for appropriate exam access arrangements. All testing is in line with JCQ guidelines and includes liaison with the school, completion of form 8 and a short report.
