ABOUT ME

I am a Qualified Dyslexia Specialist (Level 7 Specialist Teacher – Assessor) and hold a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC – Dyslexia Guild).

I have been teaching since 1996 and have extensive experience of classroom teaching in a wide variety of settings. After doing a Masters in Modern Languages and Linguistics, I became an MFL teacher before deciding to retrain as a Specialist Teacher – Assessor a few years ago. What prompted me to retrain was seeing the difficulties so many pupils have to deal with at school. I have always been passionate about Teaching and Learning and believe in a holistic approach to education.

I therefore decided to focus on a wide range of skills whilst retraining: alongside studying with Dyslexia Action for two years, I studied Counselling Skills and Studies (Levels 2 and 3) and did a Mindfulness course (.b course). For the past three years, I have been working alongside small groups and individuals, using all my skills to help them gain confidence, independence and reach their true potential.

I currently work part-time as a Specialist Teacher in a fantastic Learning Support Department at a secondary school. This alongside my extensive teaching experience in a range of sectors enables me to stay fully involved in current educational practices and have the most up-to-date and thorough knowledge of the best way to support children in their educational setting.
